This week I will examine works and talk about a modern artist that dabbles in the Swiss style. I've touched slightly on New York native Mike Joyce and his work as a graphic designer. He is the creator of Swissted, which is an ongoing project. Drawing from his love of punk rock and
Swiss Modernism, two movements that have almost nothing to do with one
another, Mike has redesigned vintage punk, hardcore, new wave, and indie
rock show flyers into International Typographic Style posters. Interestingly enough, each design is set in lowercase Berthold Akzidenz-Grotesk medium, not
Helvetica.
